Introduction
I’ll be honest — when my husband and I first started looking for a preschool for my little one, we did not expect to end up with a preschool in Orchard Singapore. Why? We actually live in Ang Mo Kio. We looked at plenty of preschools closer to home first — and trust me, there were many.
- a nurturing environment
- a curriculum that actually made sense for a toddler
- good teacher to student ratio
- flexible hours that worked around our schedule (we were not ready for her to go to school every day of the week)
- and ideally somewhere we wouldn't dread the morning drop-off
- Amongst so many other Montessori activities…
- amongst many of criteria…
It took us a while to accept it, but Brainy Child Montessori — preschool in Orchard Singapore — was simply the only school that had it all for us.
My little one has been enrolled here for almost 12 months now, and I genuinely cannot say enough good things about it. So much so that I felt compelled to write this article. If you’re a parent currently weighing your preschool options in Singapore, I hope this helps.
10 Reasons Why I Love Brainy Child
Montessori Preschool in Orchard Singapore
Reason 1: I Love the Montessori Approach
As a parent, I’d been drawn to the Montessori education philosophy,so when it came to preschool hunting, Montessori schools were of top priority for me. I love how the term “Montessori” is not just a marketing buzzword here at Brainy Child Montessori preschool.
The teachers here are all Montessori trained and it shows. The prepared environment, the fostering of independence, the personalised learning pace – all things I love for my child.
Reason 2: The Flexible Schedule Was a Game-Changer for Us
Reason 3: Small Classes Mean My Child Is Never Just a Number
Reason 4: My Child Has Friends from All Over the World
Reason 5: Mixed Age Interactions Are Encouraged
While the school runs mainly single-level classrooms*, mixed-age interaction is woven into everyday moments. Mostly from mixed age free play every day at drop off before class begins and monthly excursions together.
My child has become noticeably more confident and caring since being in an environment which fosters interactions with both younger and older peers. I’ve seen students in the school step up to help younger children, and equally, look up to the older ones with such admiration and motivation. It mirrors how children interact in the real world — in families, in neighbourhoods — and the social and emotional growth it produces is genuinely remarkable.

Reason 6: A School That Takes Cleanliness as Seriously as You Do
Reason 7: Dedicated Language Classes
We specifically enrolled at Brainy Child Montessori mostly for the Mandarin classes — so believe me when I say we pay close attention to this. And it delivers. Mandarin here isn’t an afterthought or a single lesson slotted into an otherwise English-heavy day. It carries almost the same weight as English across the curriculum, with equally fun and diverse activities throughout.
For families looking for even more, the school also offers Japanese classes — a forward-thinking touch that sets children up beautifully for the multilingual world they’re growing up into.
Reason 8: Finally, a Preschool That Doesn't Charge You for Vacations
This will probably blow the minds of most parents used to preschools in Singapore — a fee structure that considers the time your child is on vacation and not in school!
As most experienced parents will tell you, one thing is almost universal: most preschools in Singapore charge full monthly fees regardless of attendance. Just ask anyone around you. However, at Brainy Child Montessori it works differently. They appreciate that families have travel plans that don’t always align with school closure dates.
Simply let them know in advance with your flight itinerary, and fees are calculated based on the actual days attended at the daily rate. If that works out lower than the monthly fee, you simply pay the lesser amount. For a family who enjoys travelling like us, that kind of consideration is genuinely rare — and deeply appreciated.
Reason 9: The Orchard Location Is Incredibly Convenient
I didn’t think the location would matter as much as it does — but it really does. This preschool in Orchard Singapore is just a short walk from either Somerset MRT or Dhoby Ghaut MRT (depending on which direction you are coming from). And also conveniently located at the exit of the highway if you drive, making the morning drop-off much easier.
And during the session? I actually get things done. Grocery runs, a proper sit-down breakfast, a Pilates session, a massage, a browse through the shops — the prime location in town means everything is within walking distance. For shorter playgroup sessions especially, it means I’m not rushing home and back. I arrive for pick-up relaxed, and I think my child picks up on that energy too.
Reason 10: The Principal and Teachers Are the Heart of This School
Last but not least, I’ve visited plenty of preschools in Singapore, and I can tell you that the people at Brainy Child Montessori are something special. The principal leads with so much warmth and intentionality — you can tell this is more than a job to her. The teachers are the same. They greet every child by name, they remember the little things, and they communicate with parents in a way that makes you feel like they truly care about your child’s growth journey. Knowing my child is in the hands of people who truly care makes all the difference for me.
My Favourite Preschool in Orchard Singapore, Could It Be Yours Too?
From one parent to another, I wrote this because I genuinely wish I had something like it when I was searching for the right preschool in Orchard Singapore. There is so much noise out there, and it can be overwhelming. What I can tell you, as a parent who has lived it, is that Brainy Child Montessori is the real thing — a school where your child will be safe, seen, challenged, and deeply loved by the people caring for them.
If you’re considering it, my biggest advice is: go and see it for yourself. Book a tour, sit in on a session, let your child spend a morning there. I have a feeling you’ll know, just like I did.
