We had an amazing experience here at Brainy Child School. The much-needed attention was given to my child, who grew up a lot here in terms of his knowledge, personality, and character.

With a smaller batch size, the teacher is able to focus. Teacher Jhuma took a challenge when my child came from a different school and could not cope in class. He found his love for Maths and Reading here.
As a 1st time parent, I also learned a lot. and I thanks for the same.
You all will be missed by Divit.

This is the 1st school my twins attended and I could not have picked a better academic setting with a more intimate environment. My twins always received high focused attention from at least 2 teachers. They learned all their phonics within 2 weeks. They loved their teachers: Pam & Rebecca. They looked forward to going to school everyday. They picked up all sorts of skills from BrainyChild: Singing, phonics, dancing, coloring, color coding, story telling, counting, puzzling, talking, vocabulary, completing all tasks before moving on to the next…etc I highly recommend BrainyChild if you want your kids to be in a highly academic setting and have a more 1:1 direct interaction with their teachers.

This is a fantastic school. The teachers and staff are all dedicated to providing care and genuine love of learning to their students. The knowledge they impart are all skills a child at this age range will find useful/necessary to inculcate lifelong love of learning and the environment is a nurturing and caring one. My child was so happy to attend preschool here. I was so happy with all the teachers esp. Teacher Jhuma and Zhou Laushi who never stopped imparting knowledge and skills in their subjects. Every single member of staff here is dedicated to bringing out the best in each child. Teacher Monica runs a tight ship but she is excellent at maintaining the professionalism and dedication associated with montessori learning. I am forever indebted to this wonderful school for teaching my child so many important skills in a caring environment. God Bless you all and Thank you so much. Special thanks to the Japanese Teacher Naomi Sinsei for teaching my child so many beautiful Japanese songs that she still sings today. Special thanks to Aunty Loo, Teacher Pam and Teacher Dolly for the care, cheerfulness and professionalism they bring to school.

We searched about 15 schools across Singapore, including neighbourhood schools and high-end ones to find this humble kindergarten along orchard road. When I first stepped in, I felt "this is it". The school had humble, caring teachers and loving parents of many nationalities. In fact there are probably less locals than foreigners in this school. As weeks went by, my kid became smarter, happier and learnt many social skills. He met great friends, forging early bonds. On the administrative side, the school showed great flexibility and resilience during covid, and I would recommend anyone to try out this school, knowing that the child would always be in the minds of the faculty and in great care 🙂

Our son spent three happy and productive years at Brainy Child Montessori. We have nothing but praise for the staff and the set-up which creates for a very nurturing environment for the children to learn and engage. The staff have a strong sense of caring towards all of the pupils and are attuned to each child’s character and needs which is so important at this age. This is helped by the small class sizes and high teacher to pupil ratio. The curriculum is stimulating for the little ones embarking on the first steps of their education. The teachers are extremely experienced, and always provided us with ongoing feedback at every stage on our son’s progress, which we found very helpful and re-assuring. We would highly recommend the school to any parent with pre-school age children.

Brainy child Montessori is a hidden gem of a school in Orchard. My son started attending Teacher Pam’s class when he was 20 months old and has been there for over 2 years now. With a child psychology background, Teacher Pam is able to study each child’s personality and come up with the best strategy to make the child feel at home in her prenursery class. She knows how to handle each child well and goes beyond her way to educate parents on how to understand their children better.

Teacher Monica, the owner of the school is the warmest and kindest lady you will ever meet. She always think of the student’s well being over money. She cares for each family and has given me many advice on how to boost my son’s immune system. Her integrity is above reproach as she pointed out my miscalculations when I had overpaid for a particular month. Thank you Monica for being so accommodating to my son’s needs and often sporadic schedule.

My son loves going to school and surprises me with the things he learns at school even at such a young age. I never knew that kids can pick up so much academically even at preschool. Thank you Brainy child for equipping my son with the love and discipline he needs for a lifetime of learning. I am looking forward to putting my daughter in this wonderful school when she comes of age and hope to always stay a part of this warm, close knit school community.

My daughter started at Brainy Child when she was 3 years old. After having a bad experience with my older child at a large daycare chain, I was reluctant to put her into preschool. However, a friend recommended Brainy Child and it was perfect for us. It's a small setting, the teachers are gentle and caring and the quality of teaching is excellent. My daughter enjoyed going to school; not only did she learn a lot (I'm sure she'll have no problem with the international school curriculum that she's about to start) but they also gave her the space to do the things she enjoys most and develop as an individual. Thank you so much!

Our daughter attended Brainy Child from 18 months and until she turned 4. She loved every minute of it so much so that she was sad whenever she had to miss a day.
The teachers are very professional, knowledgeable and loving. They have helped our daughter develop her confidence and taught her how to be kind and caring. She has learned so much throughout these years and I am very thankful to Monica and her wonderful team.
It may not look like a fancy school, but don't let that put you off. This is a true hidden gem in Orchard and one I very highly recommend.

Great pre-school! We sent our daughter to Brainy Child Montessori when she was 2 yrs and 9 months old. We initially planned to move her to another Montessori school at the start of the next academic year. However, our daughter had such a great experience and progress at Brainy Child that we decided to just cancel her enrolment from the other school and stay at Brainy Child - this was the best decision we have made so far for her education. They have a small class so the teachers can really pay attention to each child. Monica and the teachers sincerely cared for the kids. They provided us with timely feedbacks and advices regarding her behavior and progress which really helped us a lot. In addition to academic subjects (English phonics, Math and Languages - Mandarin and Japanese), this school focuses on sensorial, cultural studies character building and practical life skills, which I believe are equally important especially during the formative years. Our daughter left this school at the age of 6 to move to her primary school and she’s very much prepared, just as the school has promised and reassured us - she reads and writes very well, has a strong foundation in Math, she’s independent and confident. We are extremely grateful to all the teachers - Teacher Monica, Teacher Jhuma, Naomi Sensei, Zhou Lao Shi, Teacher Sula, Teacher Pam, Teacher Shilpi, Li Lao Shi and even the teachers who have moved on (Teacher Cynthia, Teacher Jacintha, Teacher Amelia, Teacher Havin, Teacher Swigin, Teacher Maggie, Yuki Sensei, Teacher Vanisha), and of course, Auntie Loo. She truly enjoyed her time in this school.

Mili has thrived under their care and has developed both socially and academically. I was constantly amazed by the creative and thoughtful lesson plans and activities that the teachers came up with to keep the children engaged and excited about learning. The staff are all kind, patient, and genuinely love working with young children. I highly recommend Brainy Child Montessori pre-school to any parent seeking a high-quality Montessori education for their child.

So grateful that we managed to find Brainy Child Montessori in 2017 after a bad experience in another child care.

We started sending our first daughter, Anya, to the school’s Saturday Mom and Tot classes when she was 19 months old. After accessing by the teacher that she’s ready for drop off session, she then joined the weekday playgroup classes. We like that the school always respect the kids’ feeling and allow them to grow at their own pace. Anya enjoyed her time in the preschool from playgroup till her graduation from K2 end of last year. Thankful that all the teachers have prepared Anya so well for her primary school. She’s now adapting and enjoying her next learning journey in her primary school. With the low kid to teacher ratio, Anya has such a close knit relationship with her friends and teachers in Brainy Child Montessori that she would ask for chance to visit the preschool even after she started her primary school.

Our second and youngest daughters are currently in Brainy Child Montessori too. We feel happy to send them to Brainy Child Montessori as the teachers are very kind and attentive to kids. The teachers are friendly and updates parents of the kids’ development and progress promptly. The school is also well maintained, providing the kids with a clean and safe learning environment.

Thank you to everyone in Brainy Child Montessori ! (Ms Monica , Aunty Loo, Teacher Jhuma, Zhou Lao Shi, Teacher Pam, Teacher Sulak, Teacher Shilpi, Naomi Sinsei , Li lao Shi and ex-Teachers : teacher Cynthia ,teacher Amelia , teacher Jacintha and many many more teachers /staff over these 5 years who has helped to shape Anya)

Dearest Wonderful teachers, thank you so much for all. We can’t express how much we appreciate. All our daughters loved and enjoyed their time at Brainy Child. Teacher Monica always gives her hands to us whenever you are in trouble. Teacher Pam always welcomes Elizabeth with big smiles. Our daughters have learned Japanese at Brainy more then I have taught. Elizabeth can count numbers thanks to Yuki Sensei and Victoria like the song “Agrigato no hana”, which she is singing to me many times. Now a days, Elizabeth is counting numbers in Chinese and loves reading books before she goes to bed.

Brainy Child is where the parents can feel secure and the best place to learn for children. All the teachers love children. We are grateful that we have sent our daughters to Brainy Child. Thank you so much again and again !!

My son attended Brainy Child for 5 and a half years since he was 1 and a half year old and my daughter attended for 2 years since she was 1 and a half year old. This school is based on Montessori education, and you can learn three languages of English, Japanese and Chinese; Math, Science and Music are taught in a well-balanced way. The field trip is one of the events that children look forward to every month. We had a good time going to parks, museums and various attractions and went horse riding. I was worried about going to a local school, but all teachers, including the Japanese teachers, were affectionately friendly. I was able to send my kids to Brainy Child with peace of mind. I remember my son said “My Best School!” when he graduated. It’s a very warm school with lots of fun and will continue to be an important place for our family.

I highly recommend Brainy Child to any parent looking for a preschool. My son joined Brainy Child when we moved from Australia to Singapore and he has been so happy there. The educators are warm, caring and excellent teachers. He has flourished in this school. His teacher was very understanding when I explained that we came from a different preschool education system (play based) and his teacher took him under her wings, helped him settle in (which was a huge help when you are trying to readjust to a new country) and taught him to read, write, learn a new language (mandarin) and encouraged his passion for maths and problem solving. I am incredibly grateful for all the staff at Brainy Child, they run a top notch program.

The teachers and staff genuinely care about the children and the lessons are well developed/planned. The field trips are fun and the school keeps the days interesting and engaging for the children. There’s always something new. The teachers have great qualifications and engaged with my child directly and regularly due to the small class size.

My child attended Brainy for 4 years and he is able to read at the 10 year old level (he’s 6 years old) and is able to do addition and some subtraction. He enjoys learning and looked forward to going to school every day. He loved his teachers and would come home talking about the interesting activities and lessons he had that day.

We tried going to an international school nearby and was greatly disappointed. Brainy is much better in that the class sizes are small and the teachers genuinely care about the children. For young children it is very important that they enjoy learning and feel safe and welcome at school. Brainy delivers on its promise and really helped prepare my child for primary 1.

This school always has parents’ interest at heart. Their priority is children’s growth and providing a suitable teacher and lesson for each child. My 3 children have grown and developed well from their weekly English Class because of the teacher they have provided. The teacher gives good program to learn that is very practical. Hence children have no stress and enjoy the class. My request to the school was to brush up their spoken English and Karin has passed EIKEN 2nd grade (English Certificate Examination) when she was grade 5 in the primary school. I really think she couldn’t pass it without those lessons. My family has to move back to Japan due to new assignments in the company, but if we can still be in Singapore we will definitely continue learning English in Brainy Child.

Thank you Monica and Teachers, my family has not forgotten the precious time with you.

Mrs. Mehrotra narrates her daughter’s first experience with Creative Writing at her new school :

I just wanted to share with you about a fantastic piece of writing Arya did on Thursday. We were inquiring into how to write a good beginning for her recount. To help with that, teacher’s had performed a small skit to enact how to choose ‘just right’ books. Students are now learning to use that as a model for writing a recount. After showing the process of it, students were asked to write their own beginning.

Arya’s writing was absolutely amazing. The vocabulary she used had clearly shown her voice and understanding. She was chosen to be on the author’s chair to share her writing, She was very excited and proud, as was I.

Thank you Monica, feeling so good, thank you for building Arya’s base !!

While it was a short time, thank you very much for all the help you have given to my daughter. At first, she was crying a lot but thanks to the teachers, now she can go to school without crying. Thanks to Brainy Child she is very interested in English and has started singing English songs, counting numbers in English and talking about teachers at home. We think that for Yuika, the experience here was as big as she would never forget. We are grateful that we could meet our wonderful teachers and have a great time.

We love teacher Pam, the Mandarin and Japanese lessons and the ability to improve learning through puzzles etc. We like the idea of letting the child choose the game activity that interests her. The teachers at Brainy Child Montessori are very patient, accommodating and friendly to the children. The teachers are what makes Brainy Child a special place.

The experience has been great for her socialization skills, learning to share etc. We also love that she is being exposed to foreign languages. Especially for the 3 year old age group, Brainy Child is a great value for the money. Teacher Pam is wonderful and the kids learn and have fun.

My daughters Chloe (4) & Lauren (3) have both been lucky enough to be in Teacher Pam’s class at Brainy Child Montessori. Pam has been a warm and positive presence in their lives for the past 2 years and they both settled with her easily. She takes time to nurture their personalities and find their strengths which has been a great help for them to develop confidence. Having Pam as their first teacher has created a wonderful foundation for their learning and we are very grateful to her.

We are very appreciative of the flexibility of Brainy Child in relation to our daughters learning. Brainy Child treats our children as individuals and we have been able to adjust their timetables and subjects accordingly. This has been instrumental in building their confidence. The staff are all very caring and we have found Monica to be consistently supportive and available to discuss any concerns.

We have found the teachers to be very approachable and honest in relation the education and well-being of our daughters. We appreciate the level of feedback we receive and the effort they put in when planning the term material to ensure the children are challenged without being overwhelmed.

Our daughters have become a lot more confident and are more interested in learning since attending Brainy Child. The emphasis on phonics has helped with their speech, writing and reading and we are sure they have been given a great start.

Brainy Child Montessori is a small Montessori which means that more individual and direct learning can take place. Our children have been allowed to develop at their own pace with gentle encouragement in accordance with our views.

The school is like a big family with small class sizes and the Montessori curriculum is both varied and challenging. The excellent curriculum and nurturing environment prepare the children for the next stage of their schooling.

The teachers are truly dedicated and we really appreciate the warmth and personalized attention given by the staff. All the teachers are very professional and we can see that they really love what they do.

Alice is learning so much at Brainy Child. Her literacy and numeracy skills have improved tremendously. The school offers an excellent Mandarin Programme and Alice can respond to basic instructions in Mandarin and has impressed us with the Chinese songs she learns in school.

I would recommend the school without hesitations, for its wonderful teachers and great learning environment. At Brainy Child, children gain a strong learning grounding in a small and safe environment. We feel that Alice is now prepared for the next stage of her school life and we are very happy that we made the decision to send her to Brainy Child.

About Our Montessori Programs

Our Montessori curriculum is a unique and holistic approach to early childhood education, emphasising independence, hands-on learning, and respect for a child’s natural psychological development. At Brainy Child Montessori, we offer a range of programs designed to cater to children from 18 months to 6 years old, each carefully structured to foster growth, development, and a love for learning.

Montessori Programs Overview

We provide a variety of programs tailored to different age groups and developmental stages. Our offerings include weekday and weekend classes, ensuring that children have ample opportunities to engage with Montessori education regardless of their schedules.

Mom and Tot Program (18 months onwards): This parent-accompanied program is designed to prepare young children for unaccompanied classes. It focuses on creating a nurturing and supportive environment where children begin to explore and learn alongside their parents.

Playgroup Program (18 months to 3.5 years): In this drop-off class, children engage in activities that enhance cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development. The curriculum includes English Phonics, Math, Sensorial activities, Practical Life skills, and exposure to Mandarin and Japanese languages. Activities such as storytelling, music and movement, and fine motor skills exercises are also incorporated.

Workgroup Program (Nursery and Kindergarten levels): This program caters to children in the nursery (age 4) and kindergarten (age 5-6) levels. The curriculum covers English Phonics, Math, Sensorial activities, Cultural Studies, and Practical Life skills. Teaching is individualised to match each child’s level, ensuring personalised learning experiences.

Montessori Phonics Program: Our phonics program is designed to develop strong reading and writing skills through a systematic and multi-sensory approach. The program progresses through three schemes, each building on the previous one. Each scheme includes a variety of activities and materials that engage children in hands-on learning, making the process enjoyable and effective.

Core Components of the Montessori Curriculum

The Montessori curriculum is built around several key areas, each designed to develop specific skills and knowledge. These areas include Practical Life, Sensorial, Math, Language, and Cultural Studies.

Practical Life: This area focuses on everyday skills that help children become independent and confident. Activities include pouring, spooning, buttoning, and other tasks that develop fine motor skills, concentration, and a sense of order.

Sensorial: Sensorial activities help children refine their senses and learn to classify and understand the world around them. Materials are designed to isolate specific sensory inputs, such as texture, colour, shape, and sound.

Math: Montessori math education is hands-on and concrete, starting with basic concepts and gradually moving to more abstract ideas. The curriculum is divided into six groups.

Language (Phonics): The Montessori language curriculum emphasises phonics, helping children decode words through a multi-sensory approach. The program is divided into three schemes.

Cultural Studies: This area covers science, history, geography, and arts, broadening children’s understanding of the world. Activities are designed to foster curiosity and appreciation for different cultures and natural phenomena.

Montessori Philosophy: The Foundation of Our Curriculum

The Montessori philosophy, developed by Dr. Maria Montessori, is based on the idea of freedom within a structured environment. Our classrooms are designed to support self-directed learning, with child-sized furniture and materials that encourage exploration and discovery.

Prepared Environment: Our classrooms are carefully arranged to promote independence and self-development. Materials are attractive, orderly, and designed to provide feedback to children, helping them learn through their own experiences.

Role of the Teacher: Montessori teachers act as observers and facilitators, guiding children through their learning journeys. They introduce materials at the right time, support individual learning paces, and foster a love for learning.

Individualised Learning: We recognise that every child is unique and learns at their own pace. Our curriculum is flexible and personalised, allowing each child to progress according to their interests and abilities.

Bringing it together

The Montessori curriculum is a comprehensive and child-centered approach to early childhood education. By emphasising hands-on learning, independence, and respect for each child’s developmental needs, we create an environment where children can thrive and develop a lifelong love for learning. Our programs are designed to cater to a wide range of ages and developmental stages, ensuring that every child receives the support and guidance they need to succeed. Drop us a visit today!
